It is used as antiseptic additive for medicine, food, cosmetics, film and high-grade products.
Butylparaben, or butyl paraben, is an organic compound with the formula C 4H 9O 2CC 6H 4OH.
It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents.
It has proven to be a highly successful antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics.
It is also used in medication suspensions, and as a flavoring additive in food.

1. Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: It is commonly found in lotions, creams, shampoos and cosmetics, where it prevents the growth of mold, yeast and bacteria, thereby extending the shelf life of these products.

2. Drugs: Butyl hydroxybenzoate is used in certain drugs and topical preparations to maintain product stability and prevent microbial contamination.

3. Food: Although less common, it can also be used as a preservative in certain foods to inhibit spoilage.

4. Industrial Application: It can be used in some industrial products such as paints and coatings to exert its anti-corrosion properties.

7. Mode of transport: Select the appropriate mode of transport (road, air, sea) and comply with the relevant regulations on dangerous goods (if applicable).

1. SKIN AND EYE IRRITATION: Butylparaben may cause mild irritation to skin and eyes upon direct contact. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended when handling.

2. Sensitization: Some people may develop an allergic reaction or sensitization to butylparaben, especially with repeated exposure.

3. Environmental Impact: Butylparaben is harmful to aquatic life, so its use is regulated in some areas to prevent environmental pollution.

4. Endocrine Disruption Concerns: Discussion and research has emerged regarding the possible endocrine disrupting effects of parabens, including butylparaben. Although parabens are considered safe for use in cosmetics and personal care products at certain concentrations by regulatory agencies, ongoing research continues to evaluate their safety.

5. Regulatory Status: Regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Commission have evaluated butylparaben and allow its use in certain concentrations in cosmetics and personal care products. However, it is important to follow the guidelines and regulations in your region.
