Isobornyl methacrylate is a widely used hydrophobic monomer with a good combination of hardness and flexibility, which can improve the chemical and water resistance of polymer systems.
Isobornyl methacrylate is a highly reactive organic polymer monomer that can be used for industrial preparation of heat-resistant organic boards, optical fibers, adhesives, screen printing ink carriers, modified powder coatings, cleaning coatings, high solid and low adhesive coatings, etc.
Isobornyl methacrylate can also be used as an active diluent and a toughness modifying monomer for resins to improve their dispersibility towards pigments.
Isobornyl methacrylate can effectively reduce the viscosity of polymer solutions in acrylic resin formulations. Among various cyclic monomers, the viscosity reduction effect of isobornyl methacrylate is significant. (Generally, a dosage of around 5% to 10% will have a significant effect).
Isobornyl methacrylate is suitable for manufacturing high Tg thermoplastic acrylic resins, which have high hardness, high alcohol resistance, and heat resistance. And it has good flexibility. Adhesion, moisture resistance, and weather resistance are novel acrylic polymer monomers with distinctive structures, suitable for manufacturing soft plastic film coatings such as PET, PE, PP, as well as decorative protective coatings for engineering plastic parts such as PE, PP, and PC.
