1. Used in X-ray image intensifier tubes, cesium iodide·sodium, cesium iodide·thallium scintillation crystal materials, special electric light source additives, special optical glass medicine;
2. Analysis reagents.
3. Infrared spectrometer prism, X-ray phosphor screen, scintillation counter.
Store in a cool, dry and dark place.
1. Easily deliquescent. Sensitive to light. It is very soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in methanol, and almost insoluble in acetone. The relative density is 4.5. The melting point is 621°C. The boiling point is about 1280°C. The refractive index is 1.7876. It is irritating. Toxic, LD50 (rat, intraperitoneal) 1400mg/kg, (rat, oral) 2386mg/kg.
2. Cesium iodide has the crystal form of cesium chloride.
3. Cesium iodide has strong thermal stability, but it is easily oxidized by oxygen in humid air.
4. Cesium iodide can also be oxidized by strong oxidants such as sodium hypochlorite, sodium bismuthate, nitric acid, permanganic acid, and chlorine.
5. The increase in solubility of iodine in the aqueous solution of cesium iodide is due to: CsI+I2→CsI3.
6. Cesium iodide can react with silver nitrate: CsI+AgNO3==CsNO3+AgI↓, where AgI (silver iodide) is a yellow solid that is insoluble in water.
