The polymer formed by the condensation of furan dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and ethylene glycol, poly (2,5-furandicarboxylic acid ethylene glycol ester) (PEF), has a similar structure to petroleum based polyester PET and exhibits excellent gas barrier and heat resistance in the packaging field. It also shows advantages such as moisture absorption, quick drying, natural antibacterial, UV resistance, and pilling resistance in fiber applications.
Compared to traditional PET, PEF is not only derived from biomass, but also compatible with PET processes and equipment, and can be recycled together with PET.
